Occupational Therapy

Aims to promote health by enabling individuals with disabilities to perform meaningful and purposeful activities.

Adapt their environment, teach skills and educate their patients in order to increase participation and performance of daily activities. It is a key factor for patients with disabilities related to stroke and age-related disorders to become self-sufficient again.

Balance Therapy

This therapy consists of a series of exercises determined by a therapist based on your symptoms.

It not only treats the problems associated with balance, but the problems that arise from it, such as headaches.

These therapies have the purpose of promoting wellness to the individual.

Services

Auto Accident Injuries

Auto Accident Injuries happen everyday. In Florida there are between 500 and 700 accidents per day. Most people are not aware that after an accident, pain may not appear until several days later. When there are no visible injuries and very little pain, most people usually do not seek professional help.Only when it becomes painful will they begin therapy, by then the process has become more difficult to handle

Back Pain Therapy Services

After performing an evaluation, the therapist will establish a back pain therapy plan that incorporates patient education and injury prevention. Each patient’s individual lifestyle, daily activities and personal goals are considered and included in the planning.
Therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and functional mobility training are provided, along with instruction in proper posture and body mechanics. Back therapy education focuses on lifelong activity modification and ways to alleviate pain with the goal of preventing re-occurrence, exacerbation and re-injury.

Balance Gait Therapy

Balance training can be effective in improving functional dynamic and static balance and mobility. Athletes who incorporate balance training into their exercise program can improve their performance while decreasing their chance of injury.People at risk for falls may also benefit from balance training. We utilize functional outcome measurement tools to assess patients’ risk for falling and to document improvement.

Fall Prevention Therapy

Fall Prevention Therapy is designed to reduce the risk of falling with physical activity.Falls can diminish a patients ability to lead active lives. For that reason, our therapists design individualized fall prevention programs.Such programs focus in various areas, including the patients environment as well as his physical condition.Fall Prevention Therapy can be effective in improving functional dynamic and static balance and mobility.

Geriatric Physical Therapy Services

Providing assistance and supporting elderly patients to maintain good levels of fitness is what our trained physical therapists do.As people age, they tend to slow down. Chances of falling increase, with longer recovery times. This prolonged lack of activity further deteriorates the physical condition of the person, leading to a series of ailments. To reverse and restore the persons physical condition, physical therapy is required.

Hip Replacement Therapy

This initial therapy usually is done while the patient is still in the hospital. It is designed to teach the patient how to move about in a safe manner and prevent blood clots. This stage, sometimes referred as short term recovery stage usually lasts about 6 weeks.

Joint Replacement Therapy

oint Replacement Therapy is necessary for fast & complete recovery after surgery. The post op rehabilitation process aids in helping patients learn the skills necessary in order to return to their day to day lives including the ability to perform prior tasks.

Orthopedic Physical Therapy

Depending on the severity of the condition, treatment may require long term therapy to reach full rehabilitation.Without doubt a side benefit of this therapy is the general improvement of the patient s overall physical condition. As treatment advances, most patients regain mobility and are able to become fully functional.Sports injuries usually start with physically fit patients and results usually are fast.On older patients, a gradual and less aggressive treatment might be required.Success rates are very high and eventually the person can return to their normal routine after therapy. In conclusion, length of treatment varies with the severity of the injury, the condition and age of the patient.

Parkinson’s Disease Therapy

At Touch of Health Rehab we begin therapy with an evaluation of the patient. It has been our experience that using multiple techniques lead to a slowdown of Parkinson’s Disease.Using a combination of both Occupational and Physical Therapies, a comprehensive program will be developed. For those with mild cases, a regimen of physical exercises designed to improve general physical conditioning is designed. On more advanced cases, using occupational therapy techniques to help the patient function as normally as possible.

Sports Physical Therapy

Treatment and rehabilitation of Sports Injuries is at the core of sports physical therapy practice. In cooperation with prominent area physicians, the sports physical therapist designs and implements programs for the management of these disorders in clients of all ages and physical abilities, including those with physical disabilities as well as elite athletes. The goals of this therapy are to reduce pain, swelling, increase joint motion, increase strength and improve function. The ultimate goal is to help patients in their efforts to achieve the highest level of function and return to normal everyday activities.

Shoulder Replacement Therapy

Shoulder replacement surgery has been historically very successful, but it requires post-operational physical therapy to restore proper movement of the affected shoulder and arm.Shoulder Replacement Physical therapy will be conducted by the doctors once or twice daily for the two or three days you remain in the hospital after surgery. One of our therapists will start working with you on exercises designed to regain full movement, probably as soon as numbness has subsided.Typically the exercises recommended will include some of the following, which are intended to help strengthen your shoulder and arm, and to promote recovery.
